The customers’ desire to purchase a product can be increased only by presenting the same products in a different way. The Sunray Division of the Coop group takes advantage of this fact and packs their products in a nice, stable and shelf-ready display tray, in order to address the target group directly.
Since such possibilities to get the customers’ attention are getting more and more important, the corresponding part of the pro-duction was automated during last autumn. The perfect solution was presented by Mohrbach Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH, Rieschweiler, as the flexible wrap-around packer provides nearly unlimited ways of packing.
Production volume and flexibility increased tremendously. There were different reasons for automating this part of the production. Investments had to be taken anyhow. The semi-automatic packaging of the products in cases for transportation and later the manual unpacking of each bag at the point of sale caused high ex-penses of time and personnel resources and therefore were inefficient for the company.
There was a need for a solution that replaces the semi-automatic respectively manual packing and unpacking of the products, provides an attractive and easy-to-handle packaging, and also keeps the logistical process as simple as possible.
Convincing performance and multiple variations. Coop invited several suppliers to present a concept for the realisation of the project. They selected Mohrbach because the solution was in-novative and technically well planned and the wrap-around packer from Rieschweiler fulfils all requirements up to 100%.

Thanks to the compact design the machine could be integrated in the local available space.
At the moment six different types of bags are processed on the machine. After grouping the bags, the stable display tray is formed around the products and afterwards it is lidded for a safe transportation. Palletizing is done by a palletizing robot.

Fast and easy format changing.
For the efficient handling of many different kind of bags (format and weight), the design team emphasized on keeping the time of format changing as short as possible, since format changes are made almost on a daily basis. For instance, the format part which groups the bags was designed in a way that different format sizes can be combined in one component.
Herewith standstill of the production process can be avoided and also the storage capacity for the exchange parts can be kept to a minimum.

3,600 bags have to be processed per hour. The operating experience shows that the Mohrbach wrap-around packer meets definitely the required capacity standards.
For a company like Coop, who is a producer of branded articles, the perfect appearance of the packaging is very important, here Mohrbach provides high quality: the cartons are folded and glued precisely and the products are handled carefully.
In the meantime two further systems have been ordered.

Three long-term employees were released to their retirement16.12.2007 | During the this year’s christmas party, three long-term employees were released to their retirement.
| Mr. Siegfried Pirmann was responsible for the construction of the machinery as well as the customer service since his employment with Mohrbach on January 1st, 1962. Because of his technical know-how, he was able to contribute a big part into the development and improvement of the carton-erecting machines. |

| Mr. Jürgen Leschnig, employed since September 9th, 1964 and Mr. Günther Heinz, employed since May 12th, 1970 were working in the part-production. With their knowledge and work-experience they were able to produce complicated parts, which played a big role in the technical achievement of our packaging machines. |

Reliability, engangement, great knowledge and loyalty characterize these employees, they were always available to work for our company, even after the regular working hours.

Mohrbach Open House on September 6th and 7th, 200711.09.2007 | Mohrbach celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house show! The 1st Mohrbach OpenHouse Show on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company has been very successful. In total 150 visitors came to Rieschweiler on both days in order to see the latest developments.

Besides the already known wrap-around-packer Mohrbach also offers display packer, tray packer, box packer and Casepacker.
A casepacker for the end packaging of pralines' boxes just has been delivered. The boxes of pralines are grouped, stacked and loaded from the side in the preglued American Case. Closure is made by tape.

new at Mohrbach: erector and closer for American Cases15.02.2007 | either with tape or hotmelt closure For extension of the machine programme Mohrbach now also offer case erecting and closing machines with tape. The blanks according to FEFCO 0201 are here taken out of a magazin, erected and then in the box erector first the flaps at the bottom side are turned and fixed with tape.
After filling then in the lid closing machine the flaps are also turned and closed with tape.
Performances up to 15 cycles per minute are possible - depending on the size and workability of the material.
